Shirley Pettibone: Landscapes in Monotype Luis Serrano: Landscapes Paintings & Drawings For Shirley Pettibone creating monotypes is a spontaneous medium with elements of surprise which for the viewer encourages the eye to wander over the surface revealing the abstract and emotional complexity of the image and the calligraphy of the hand.
For Luis Serrano landscape as subject is the result of assessing the visual world through the process of direct observation and of the translation of the total experience by way of drawing and painting. Consistent and sustained in-situ involvement with the landscape for the purpose of art-making is an active potent dance that requires the presence of mind, body and soul.
