Your journey starts here

Consultation

Projects at Judson Studios typically begin with a conversation about design intent, which helps to inform a direction for style and technique. Each project is unique and requires an understanding between the client and fabricator to best determine the path forward, as well as any potential roadblocks that need to be addressed.

Design

We offer full in-house design services to help realize any vision in the versatile medium of glass. Whether the concept starts from inspiration images or from a fully rendered design, we can work with you to create the best possible product that fits within budget.

Engineering

When a project calls for specific engineering needs, we consult with our partners to find solutions to complex questions. Engineering can be a daunting obstacle, but is something we can handle so you don’t have to.

Fabrication

Fabrication is when the true craftsmanship of art glass begins to shine. Our craftspeople adhere to the highest standards of the medium, and our nearly 130 year history informs this approach. Each piece is crafted by hand across our two facilities.

Framing

When a project calls for a new frame we collaborate with trusted fabricators who have a long history of accommodating art glass installations. Oftentimes, however, we are able to utilize existing frames to install our glass.

Installation

Installation is a critical part of each project, and can be what determines the lasting integrity of the art glass. Our team has extensive experience installing into wood, metal, and stone framing for projects ranging from 4 square feet to 4,000 square feet.

Techniques

Leaded stained glass window with traditional colored glass panels.

Leaded

Stained glass, or leaded glass, is made of colored glass bound in a lead or zinc came. Surface effects like painting, staining, and etching add depth and design features.

Fused glass artwork with layered colors melted into a single sheet.

Fused

Fused glass is a contemporary form of art glass that allows for the melting of various colors into a single piece of glass, achieving effects not previously possible with traditional stained glass.

Faceted glass panel created from thick slabs of colored glass set in epoxy.

Faceted

Faceted glass, or Dalle de Verre, is characterized by one inch-thick slabs of glass that are cut and faceted before being set in epoxy.

Kilnformed

Kilnformed glass is a technique where commercial or float glass is placed in a kiln, on a mold board, to be melted into custom textures for contemporary and commercial applications.

Restoration

We offer comprehensive restoration services. Our studio will remove windows, perform all required repairs, and complete re-installs entirely with our in-house crew.
